Comics what do you read?
Ok since the walkin dude almost gave it its own board what comics does everyone read. I'll start..
Im way more of a DC fan though I do indulge in the occasional marvel. Im currently keeping up with the Green Lantern books (except for Red lanterns fuck that) but I also enjoy the main Batman book (That Scott Snyder is doing) Knightwing, Batwing, as well as Animal Man, Swamp Thing, and JLA. I dont really get into the indy stuff and the only thing i read that isnt in the big 2 is IDW's Ghostbusters ongoing (shocking I know). As we speak Im reading the trade of James Robinson's "The Shade"

Re: Comics what do you read?
I just read The Walking Dead and Invincible. I long ago gave up on Marvel and DC though I've been meaning to catch up on The Stand and The Dark Tower books. But if I had to recommend a comic series it would be The Invisibles by Grant Morrison. I'd explain what it's about but just look it up on wikipedia because its almost impossible. Much easier to just read it.
Re: Comics what do you read?
I mostly follow writers rather than companies or big titles
mostly Alan Moore, but I also like Garth Ennis and Warren Ellis, and I got a prose book (Book Thirteen, which was a good read) because Jamie Delano (the first and best Hellblazer writer) wrote it.
I still pick up Hellblazer tpbs from time to time, and occasionally Judge Dredd anthologies.
I can't recommend Moore's Promethea highly enough, though if you want something a little less trippy then The Ballad of Halo Jones remains my all-time favourite comic.

The awesome thing about The Invisibles is that Morrison actually believes every bit of it. From meditational time travel, to 2012 being the end of the universe... It's all batshit crazy but it will blow your mind. It literally changed my life and I don't believe in any of it. But easily my favorite comic.

I'm ashamed to admit I have read both Dragon Age and Buffy comics.

Re: Comics what do you read?
Aside from the obvious Neil Gaiman comic which got me into comics to begin with... I read a mix of things. Like some others here, I tend to follow writers more than titles or companies. Alan Moore turns up a lot in that.
A few of my favourite titles include All-Star Superman, Secret Six, Knight & Squire, Invincible, the obvious Alan Moore classics like Watchmen, Marvelman, V for Vendetta Promethea, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and maybe a full three quarters of everything ever written by Warren Ellis. Black Summer, The Authority, No Hero, and Transmetropolitan stick out strongest in my mind, I think.

It's pretty good. Not always perfect, but it's Gaiman in the element that he's usually best at; the weird, supernatural and mythological.

My gateway into the world of Comic Books (the anglo-american kind) was Transmetropolitan.
Let's just say that this has heavily influenced the kind of quality I expect from comics.

Some of the superhero comics out there are pretty good, very good actually, but they're the rare diamonds of awesome in the ocean of liquid shit that is mainstream comics.

I enjoyed "Superman : Red Son" as an exploration on Superman's character
Watchmen also deserve a mention as a Superhero comics that stands well on its own. I think you could write entire books analyzing that one.
I think the only other Superhero comics I've read was an issue of "The Authority", and although it wasn't bad, I didn't like the message it was sending : basically these anarchists superhero with powers beyond imagination are acting as (allegegedly benevolent) tyrants, acting on their own sense of moral superiority and tearing apart all the existing power structures at their own convenience to meet the goals they set up for themselves. And it is portrayed as a good thing.
I've also read a few issues of Deadpool, and I liked it. It's completely silly and over the top, and doesn't take itself seriously.
- spoiler alert:
- I also like the treatment Luthor received and how Supes is in fact one of his distant descendants through time travel hijinks.

Ive read up to the 4th trade. Its pretty good though it does have its slow points. The "cereal" convention in the 2nd trade was an awesome idea.
